Small-school star has big-time talent

Forty five minutes East of Houston and 45 minutes west of Beaumont, Texas, is a small town called Anahuac, Texas, and it is home to a big-time offensive line talent named Horace Ford.
Ford, who is 6-foot-3 and 320 pounds, graded out at 92 percent on season and had 27 pancake blocks. He used that, along with his 5.21-second time in the 40-yard dash, 315-pound bench press and 560-pound squat to open up enough holes for his quarterback to throw for more than 1,000 yards last season.

Ford earned newcomer of the year honors in his district as a sophomore and then followed that up with all-district honors as a junior. He describes himself as one of those no nonsense type players that just always gets the job done.
“I’m tough, mean and aggressive,” Ford said. “I only gave up one sack last year, and that was one too many.”
Even though he plays right tackle, Ford likely projects as a guard because of his size. He’s getting early mail from Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Rice, Houston and Texas A&M, but is yet to get a scholarship offer.
“I want to pick a school where I get a chance to have my parents see me play,” Ford said.
