Small School QB Has Two Favorites
Junior to Watch: Josh Mabe
School: Appalachia, Va.

Position: Quarterback
Size and speed: Mabe is 6-foot-3 and weighs 210 pounds. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds, bench presses 250 pounds and squats 495.
Statistics: Mabe threw for 1,950 yards as a junior with 19 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also ran for 850 yards and 15 more scores.
Honors: Group A Offensive Player of the Year, all-state, all-region, all-conference, all-area.
Favorite Schools: Virginia, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Michigan, Syracuse.
Skinny: Mabe is one of the top quarterbacks in Virginia this year and is as dangerous running the ball as he is passing.
“Virginia is my favorite with Virginia Tech right there as well,” he said. “I’d like to stay in state. I’m going to camp at UVA and Eastern Kentucky this summer and I’ll probably go to the Virginia Spring Game.”
Mabe led his team to a 9-3 record last season and, while he plays for a small school, he’ll get plenty of attention this season.
