Small QB Getting Big-Time Interest

Colleges just seem to be getting around to taking a closer look at Jacksonville (Fla.) Episcopal quarterback Albert Chester. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a market for a 5-foot-11, 185-pound speedster who could play a number of positions.
“The only offer I have so far is from Stanford,” said Chester, who’s been timed at 4.4-seconds in the 40-yard dash. “I was out there for five days recently. It was nice. Vanderbilt said they’re also close to making me offer.”

Chester, who has a 3.4 grade-point average and scored 1070 on his SAT, said he’s also receiving interest from Georgia Tech, Purdue, Northwestern, Florida, Florida State, Boston College and Connecticut.
“BC just sent me an application,” Chester said. “And Florida requested my transcript. Florida State sent me a packet.”
Pretty soon, Chester may have more than one offer to mull over.
“Distance isn’t a factor in where I’ll go to school,” he said.
As a junior, Chester threw for more than 1,600 yards and 16 touchdowns while running for another 600 and 10 more touchdowns. He also totaled more than 2,000 yards as a sophomore and was named honorable mention 2A all-state both years.
