Slocum schedules Miami, Michigan

Rivals.com top-ranked offensive guard Marques Slocum of Philadelphia (Pa.) West Catholic has a top five list of schools in mind with three colleges in front right now.
“Michigan, Michigan State and Miami are in the top and I’m looking at Maryland and LSU,” Slocum said.

Slocum has set up visits to Michigan State (Nov. 12), Michigan (Dec. 10) and Miami (Dec. 17) and plans to visit Maryland and LSU sometime in January.
“I like all the coaches who have been recruiting me,” Slocum said. “I’m just looking for where I get the best vibe and what place feels right. And I wanted to look at it for more than football. I want to see what the school is like and what the academics are like. Where I get a good vibe, that will be where I want to go.”
Right now the 6-foot-4, 330-pound lineman is glad to be back on the field. Slocum missed West Catholic’s last game with a high ankle sprain, but will be back this Saturday. His team is 7-1 this year.
“It was hard sitting down, because I wanted to play,” Slocum said. “I didn’t want to be standing around on the sidelines. I want to be out there for the playoffs.”
Slocum is getting some calls about playing defensive line in college, according to his coach Brian Fluck. No matter what position, it is clear coaches are calling.
“My coach told me there would be a lot of calls, but I don’t think I was ready for all this,” Slocum said. “Coaches have been kidding me that they feel like they are recruiting my answering machine because I’m never around. I just tell them I got to go to my grandmother’s house to get my homework work done, so I can be playing somewhere next year. There have been a lot of calls, but it has been good so far. Crazy, but good.”
