Slocum loves MSU trip

Philadelphia (Pa.) West Catholic defensive tackle Marques Slocum has been on plenty of unofficial visits this year, but his first official visit has set the bar for his recruiting.
"I had a great trip, I loved it," said the 6-foot-4, 331-pounder. "I was hosted on Friday by big Roland Martin and Seth Martin and on Saturday it was Mike Bazemore who played at West Catholic and Cliff Ryan. They were all great guys and I love the coaches there. It didn't hurt that they put a beating on Wisconsin as well."

Slocum admits he thought about committing to the Spartans on his visit, but wants to compare it to others.
"I got that feeling, that vibe," he said. "The vibe that I could see myself playing and living here for four or five years. If I don't get that same vibe on either of my next couple of visits, then I'll commit to Michigan State."
Michigan (Dec. 10) is next up for Slocum when it comes to official visits and he will most likely visit North Carolina and Maryland. Miami was high on his list but the 'Canes haven't offered yet and pushed his Dec. 17 visit back to January.
"I can read between the lines, it's no big deal," he said. "If I don't visit Miami or get an offer, it's no big deal. Southern Cal wants me to visit for this upcoming weekend, but that won't happen. I'm still unsure of my visits."
Slocum would like to play with his teammate and friend, Derrell Hand, but it's not a deal breaker.
"The schools that Derrell and I are looking at who have offered both of us are Michigan State, North Carolina and that's pretty much it," said Slocum. "Derrell will visit Wisconsin on Dec. 10 and we'll take a visit together to UNC most likely, but we both loved MSU."
Slocum is being recruited by most schools as a defensive tackle.
