Sloan excited about process

San Jose (Calif.) Archbishop Mitty inside linebacker Steve Sloan has one scholarship offer on the table from Cal, and it's an offer he's pretty excited about – especially after a meeting with Bear coach Jeff Tedford.
"Cal had a junior day a few weeks ago," Sloan, who is 6-foot-3 and 227 pounds, said. "And coach Tedford wanted me to come see him before the camp. He's really laid back, and I liked him a lot. My parents went with me, and he talked to them for a long time. That was really helpful for them. I definitely could see myself playing for coach Tedford."

Even though Sloan said he'd like to have his decision out of the way by the end of the summer, he's not really to officially pull the trigger quite yet.
Utah State and Boise State were there by the school on Wednesday and UCLA also stopped by and then later called him to talk to him about what they're thinking about.
"I talked to D.J. McCarthy (Wednesday), and he said they're very interested in me," Sloan said. "He said they're really close to offering me. They liked how I played on tape and I work really hard."
Notre Dame is the other school that Sloan has a keen interest in. Sloan said Irish assistant Brian Polian is scheduled to visit the school on May 18.
In the mean time, Sloan will be heading to next weekend's Palo Alto NIKE Training Camp.
"I'm really excited," he said. "It's going to be a tough challenge, but I've been working hard and trying to get ready for it."
