Sleepers recruiting heating up

There is a very athletic sleeper who has tremendous upsides. He hasn’t even begun to scrape the surface of his talent. Though for most of his career he played on the offensive of the ball, he has the versatility and the talent to play defense on the D-I level.
The player in question is Courtney Williams (6-2, 266, 4.8) from Culver City, Calif. He has a great frame that could carry another 20-to-30 pounds without a problem.

Williams is a super athlete for his size and moves incredibly well. He will play both ways as senior but the position on defense is still to be determined. Williams will be looked at linebacker and defensive end or tackle.
On the offensive side of the ball Williams plays offensive guard where he was an all-league selection as a junior.
“Courtney is a great drive blocker, great trap blocker and pull blocks exceedingly well,” Culver City offensive line coach Scott Macrillo said. “He also has a very nasty attitude who loves to hit people.”
“Another thing I like about Courtney he is very competitive,” Macrillo said. “He hates to lose and he never quits.”
“Courtney played banged up with a tender ankle as a junior but he never wanted to come out of the game,” Macrillo said. “He’s a very tough young man.”
Williams has tremendous leadership skills and was selected a team captain as a junior. He will be a three-year starter his senior season on the offensive side of the ball and could end up being captain again.
Williams has good strength with his bench of 295, squats 455 and cleans 265. He has recorded a 28-inch vertical.
The ceiling on Williams is high indeed. One source told Rivals that Williams could grow into a Warren Sapp type of defensive tackle. “How many guys Courtney’s size runs as he does and have his quick feet.”
Where Williams plays on the next level makes no difference to him.
“I will play anywhere my coach puts me,” Williams said. “I have no preference for offense or defense. As long as I’m contributing and the team is winning, that’s all I really care about.”
Cal, Washington, Oregon State, ASU, Fresno State, UNLV and San Diego State are showing a lot of interest in Williams. Colorado, Nevada and Idaho are also taking a long look.
