Position: Defensive Tackle/Offensive Tackle
Size and Speed: Guevara stands 6-foot-4, weighs 270 pounds and runs the 40 in 5.1. His bench is 265, power clean 245, and squats 450. Guevara has recorded a 26-inch vertical jump.
Honors: Guevara was selected all-league and all-county as a junior.
Statistics: Guevara led the team in sacks with nine. A pretty impressive stat since he plays on the inside. Most sack leaders play on the edge. He also racked up 65 tackles and seven tackles for loss.
Favorite Colleges: Guevara is hearing from USC, Washington State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Wyoming.
Skinny: Guevara is a left-hander making him a natural left tackle on the offensive side of the ball. He is a two-way performer who has the talent to play on either side of the ball on the next level. Guevara has an excellent combination of quickness and size. He is working hard and getting stronger too.
Guevara is in outstanding shape and has tremendous stamina. A big season is expected out of Guevara as he is coming into his own as a football player. He has the high ceiling of potential that D-I schools look for in a prospect.
“I think John’s stock is going to rise,” West head coach John Cornfield said. “He is beginning to fulfill his potential and is really climbing the charts.”
Guevara has that great burst off the ball that you can’t teach. He is definitely a player to keep your eye on this fall.
