Sleeper TE adds an offer

Asheville, N.C. tight end Trevor Sawyer added a third offer recently. The 6-foot-6, 215-pounder pulled his latest scholarship from another Division I school.
"I just got word from Marshall earlier this week and they told me they were going to offer," he said. "I also have offers from East Carolina and Western Carolina.

"I really like Marshall. They've got some really good tight ends, two of the top tight ends in the nation. They talked about how they want me to come in and be the same as those other two, split out and come in and block. I'm excited about that."
While another offer is in, interest is beginning to pick up.
"North Carolina came by the school and they've told me I pass the eyeball test," he said. "They already have seen my junior film which was me at quarterback. They want some tight end film now. I'm actually sending them the tight end film soon. I should be hearing more from them soon. They are probably my top school."
Just a few weeks back, Sawyer took in the East Carolina-North Carolina game.
"It was a good game and North Carolina won," he said. "I liked East Carolina on previous visits just as much. It was good to see two schools that are recruiting me."
In the meantime, another visit is on the horizon.
"I'm going to Vanderbilt on an unofficial on October 17th," he said. "They're showing pretty good interest. They want to use me as an H-back and split out. They've already come to see me play."
The two-star prospect is also getting looks from Buffalo and NC State.
Sawyer has helped his team to a 4-0 record as he's posted 350-yards receiving and five touchdowns.
"We're coming off a big conference win and I'm the leading receiver on our team," he said. "This year I'm strictly playing tight end.
"That's the position I love to play."
While many schools haven't seen film of Sawyer, what sticks out about him at tight end at this time?
"My coaches always tell me that it's my hands. I've got really good hands, that's one of my strong points," he said. "Also, I have the ability to go deep and go out for short passes across the middle. I can make a play after the catch, but I also love being physical and hitting. I love to block too. I know it's not all about catching. I like to make the backs look good and protect my quarterback sometimes."
