Sleeper Spotlight: 6 new names to know from Tennessee Select Tryout

NASHVILLE, Tenn. –- Some of the best talent from the state of Tennessee gathered at Tennessee State University on Sunday for a shot at making the roster of the Tennessee Select 7-on-7 squad. With multiple four-stars on hand plenty of other young stars impressing, there were plenty of things to take away from the event. But several under the radar prospects also impressed. Here's a rundown of some players to keep an eye on down the line.

QB Kolbe Langhi Hopkinsville (Ky.) Christian County (2018)

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Langhi has the look of a future big-time quarterback and showed an excellent arm during both drills and one-on-ones. Unlike most quarterback prospects these days, Langhi hasn't had the luxury of consistent lessons or coaching, so he still has some progress to make in terms of improving his fundamentals. However, he's dedicated himself to getting extra work this offseason and his progress should be interesting to track as the offseason moves along.

JaVonta Payton

ATH JaVonta Payton Nashville (Tenn.) Hillsboro (2017)

Payton was working out at running back on Sunday, but with his tall, long frame he could easily play a number of other positions. Whether he's an all-purpose back, a slot receiver or perhaps a defensive back he's a smoother runner with very good hands.

DB Wanya Moton Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland (2017)

Oakland has produced its share of talent over the years, including multiple four-star prospects. Moton may not be on that level, but at Sunday's tryout he showed excellent athleticism and quality hands. His experience as a wide receiver and quarterback in high school will only serve him well when he's able to focus on defense full time at the next level.

WR Shun Reed Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland (2017)

Reed is very quick and has decent size for a wide receiver. He was pretty sharp as a route-runner and also got in and out of his breaks well, allowing him to have success in one-on-ones. Reed is another one of Oakland's talented playmakers.

DB Wesley Walker Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth (2019)

Walker is still very early in his development as a player, but he impressed with his length and ability to cover one-on-one on Sunday. Despite being just a rising sophomore he's already 6-feet tall and he looks to have the skills to play corner or perhaps even grow into a safety.

QB Trey Lowe Boliver (Tenn.) Central (2018)

Lowe is an intriguing prospect at the quarterback position and he showed good arm strength on Sunday. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound prospect is also a pretty good athlete and while he didn't get to show it at the event that makes him an interesting player to keep an eye on going forward.
