Sleeper receives five offers

One of the fastest rising sleepers in the west is athlete prospect Blaise Johnson (5-11, 185, 4.45) from Tempe (Ariz.) Corona del Sol. Johnson has recently been the recipient five offers.
The reason that Johnson is such a sleeper and colleges are getting a late start on him is he had a high ankle sprain as a junior that hampered throughout 2003.

Until Johnson was he led the Grand Canyon State in touchdowns as a junior.
Injury free in 2004, Johnson has come back with a vengeance. From his quarterback position, Johnson rushed for 890 yards and 14 touchdowns. He passed for 750 yards and threw for 10 more touchdowns.
Johnson even caught six passes for 155 yards and two receiving touchdowns. He also accounted for over 400 return yards and another touchdown.
What is even more impressive is Johnson only played in the first half in the majority of his games. The first time he played a full game was when the playoffs rolled around.
Johnson led Corona del Sol to their best record and playoff appearance in 18 years.
For his senior season performance, Johnson selected first-team all-state as a defensive back and he earned Conference Player of the Year honors. He was also selected first-team all-conference as both a quarterback and defensive back for his senior seas. He is also a finalist for Gatorade State and Old Spice Player of the Year.
Johnson has received recent offers from the Air Force Academy, BYU, UNLV, Nevada and Northeastern.
UCLA let him know that they would be interested in giving him a preferred walk-on because of their scholarship crunch and would give him the opportunity to earn a scholarship as a sophomore.
Stanford may have a scholarship to offer depending on their rigid admissions. Johnson carries a perfect 4.0 GPA and scored an 1160 on the SAT.
Johnson will take his first visit to Air Force on January 7th. He will then visit Nevada on January 14th. His third visit is scheduled to BYU on January 21st.
Johnson will only have time to take four visits. Stanford could be in line for the fourth visit.
One of the reasons that Johnson has seen his stock take off is he recently sent out his senior film. There could be even more colleges coming his way in the very near future.
Johnson just received letters from Duke and Virginia both saying they were impressed and that they would get back to him after their staffs review the film.
