Sleeper RB off to fast start

Don't be surprised if you start hearing a lot about running back Carl Winston (5-10, 207, 4.48) from Gardena (Calif.) Serra. He is off to a flying start while helping his team to a perfect 2-0 record.
In two games, Winston has rushed for 342 yards while averaging 7.44 yards per carry and two touchdowns. He rushed for 240 yards against a well coached and tough Carson team. In his first game he rushed for 102 yards and returned a kick 85 yards for a touchdown.

Serra coach Scott Altenberg is not surprised at all that his star running back is doing as well as he is.
"Carl has been getting it done for three years," Altenberg said. "He's very consistent, so it is not surprising that he is doing it again. He plays big, in big games."
As a junior, Winston rushed for 1,854 yards and scored 23 touchdowns, while averaging 8.96 yards per carry. He also caught 15 passes for 144 yards. His junior season performance was good enough for him to earn first-team all-CIF honors and to be selected League Offensive Player of the Year.
On the recruiting trail, Winston is still looking for his first offer, but is getting recruiting attentions from UCLA, Washington, Boise State, San Jose State, Colorado, Colorado State and Wyoming.
The talented running back has received phone calls since September 1st from UCLA, Colorado, Colorado State and Wyoming.
Colorado and Colorado State are talking to Vincent about taking a visit.
What is Winston looking for in a college?
"I'm am looking for a school that has a nice college atmosphere with great people," Winston said. "A school with a nice campus that has good athletics as well as good academics. I would also like to play for a big time football program."
A hard worker, Winston attended the NIKE Camp in Palo Alto last May where he was mentioned as a sleeper who is emerging. He also attended the UCLA Camp in June and had a good showing. He would have gone to more camps, but his Dad wanted him to get his GPA up to a 3.0, which he has achieved.
