Sleeper QB picking up interest

Quarterback Andrew Ruiz (6-1, 180, 4.56) from Imperial, Calif., benefited by having UCLA bound Christian Ramirez on his team in 2005. While many schools were trying to pry Ramirez loose from his commitment to UCLA, many schools became impressed by the fine play of Ruiz.
While engineering the veer offense, Ruiz threw for 1,002 yards while hitting on 62 passes on 98 attempts and 14 touchdowns. He also rushed for 127 yards and four touchdowns.

As a sophomore Ruiz threw for 511 yards completing 35 passes out of 68 attempts and eight throwing touchdowns. He rushed for 355 yards and scored five touchdowns in 2004.
"Andrew is very athletic and has very good speed," Imperial coach Steve Cato said. "He runs the option well. Has great accuracy throwing on the run and has the ability to make plays with his feet."
On the recruiting trail things have been picking up for Ruiz. He has been contacted by Washington State saying they want him to fly up and workout for them. The word is Ruiz is very fired up by Washington State's interest.
More locally San Diego State is also very interested in Ruiz. He received a text message from the Aztecs for him to make San Diego State's scrimmage last Saturday.
Ruiz was on hand for the scrimmage and is scheduled to show up for another scrimmage at San Diego State with his teammates on April 15th.
Other schools showing Ruiz interest are Arizona State, Fresno State and Cal State Sacramento.
Ruiz is already qualified.
