Sleeper QB has huge upside

Lake Balboa (Calif.) Birmingham under the guidance of head coach Ed Crosson has become one of the best programs in the Los Angeles section. They have won two titles over the last four years and once reason for that is Crosson has his team running a sophisticated offense.
One of the reasons that Birmingham could be very good this season is the fact that Jimmy Beloff (6-4, 190, 4.8) is back at quarterback.

What makes Beloff an even more intriguing prospect is he's a relative newcomer to the position of quarterback. The truth is he has only been playing the spot since his sophomore year.
"Jimmy has really developed into a fine quarterback," Crosson said. "He gets some private coaching from former ACC Player of the Year and NFL quarterback, Erik Kramer."
"Jimmy can really read coverages and knows where to go with the football," Crosson said. "He can move from one target to the next because he understands the concepts of the offense.
"Jimmy has good pocket presence and beginning to learn touch," Crosson said. "He has a lot of whip so he can throw hard when he needs to throw it hard. He is beginning to learn all the different throws and he's picking it up really well."
"I think Jimmy has a huge upside because of how far he has come in such a short time," Crosson said. "That has a lot to do with Erik (Kramer) and our quarterback coach."
Beloff was a first-team all-league selection after throwing for 1,801 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Crosson was called by USC offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin and was told that USC is going to be watching him this fall.
Washington is another school that has expressed an interest in Beloff.
Look for Beloff's stock to heat up once colleges come on campus this spring.
