Sleeper QB gets offer

Sleeper quarterback prospect Jonathan Mader from Albuquerque (N.M.) Cibola has been very proactive this summer and helped himself get on the map.
Mader was an all-state (HM) and second team all-metro selection after passing for 1,600 yards and 19 touchdowns. He is also a pretty nifty runner who rushed for 430 yards from his quarterback position and added nine rushing touchdowns to the cause.

Mader has one offer on the table from hometown New Mexico and he's getting recruiting attention from BYU, Wyoming, UTEP, Texas Tech, New Mexico State, LSU and ASU.
LSU is sending him mail about three times a week. He camped at Texas Tech where he was timed in the shuttle with an impressive 4.2. Tech told Mader that they are going to keep an eye on him and give him tickets for one of their home games.
Mader also attended the Elite 11 Camp at Fort Worth and attended NIKE Camp the day after.
"I felt I did pretty well at both camps," Mader said. Obviously there were a lot of good quarterbacks being in Texas, but I felt I held my own.'
"I started off in June going to UTEP for a 7-on-7 passing tournament," Mader said. "I took 10 of my players there to show them what I can do.
"We did good and made it to the quarterfinal with only 10 players. Everybody else had at least 20.
"Then I went the very next day to the Arizona State four-day camp," Mader said. "It was very hot there, but I feel I did well and I was one of the top quarterbacks at the camp. Overall it was a good learning experience for me.
"The day after the Arizona State camp, I went to the three-day Lobo (New Mexico) camp," Mader said. "The Lobo camp was a combination of working on your skills and a 7-on-7 tournament.
"I got my offer from New Mexico towards the end of camp," Mader said. "My parents and I met with Coach Rocky Long and he offered me a scholarship.
"It felt good to get my first offer. I have always wanted to play in my hometown and so it's good to know I can play at home if I chose New Mexico.
"I think New Mexico State could be my next offer," Mader said. "They are doing a great job rebuilding the program and I feel they are going to have a great season.
"One of my good friends, Ruben Martinez, committed there and he really likes it down there and I would like the opportunity to play with him in college.
"I emailed a few coaches of Wyoming's coaches and sent them my film," Mader said. "Coach Bill Cockhill got back with me and let me know that they liked the film and keep an eye on me..
