Sleeper OL waking up the west coast
Rick Kimbrel
Recruiting Analyst
There is another offensive lineman on the scene who is seeing his stock take an upward turn in Sebastian Valenzuela (6-2, 310, 5.3) from Burbank (Calif.) Burroughs. Valenzuela plays offensive tackle on the high school level, but he projects as a guard, center or even by some schools as a defensive tackle on the collegiate level. During the spring, he has seen his offers rise to three.

Valenzuela earned first-team all-area, first-team all-league and was League Offensive Lineman of the Year as a junior.
On the recruiting front, Valenzuela has offers from Washington State, Utah State and Portland State. In addition to the schools that offered, he was visited this spring by the likes of UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, UNLV and Utah.
In the weight room, his current bench is 310, squat 465 and power cleans 270. He is also a solid student who carries a 3.1 GPA.
The scouting report on Valenzuela is he's very aggressive, nasty and finishes off his blocks. He something of a pancake chef as he is known for putting his opponent on his tail He has good quickness and gets to the second level quickly after he disposes the man on the first. He has good quickness at turning the corner and is an excellent pull blocker. He is also solid in pass protection and is a solid technician in both the run and pass block disciplines.
What is Valenzuela looking for in a college?
"I am looking for a college with a good environment," Valenzuela said. "A school that would be fun to be at during the offseason and that has a strong history department because that is the subject I'm going to major.
"I would like for the school to feel like home and I would prefer to place close to home and near the west coast, but I am relatively open."
