Sleeper OL emerges in Texas

KELLER, Texas - There is a sleeper emerging at Spring Branch (Texas) Smithson Valley and many people got a good look at the rising 2008 prospect Thomas Parsons at this past weekend's NIKE Combine in Keller.
Standing at 6-foot-6 and over 260 pounds, Parsons made his full season varsity debut last year for Smithson Valley. Now interest is coming from schools such as Texas A&M, UConn, Duke, TCU, and SMU among others. The Aggies, who hosted him for a junior day visit recently, hold the early lead.

"I'm a personable guy and I like to play with friends or guys that feel like a family," Parson said. "When I went to their campus, they welcomed me into the family. It's a beautiful place and the campus is amazing. It was an astonishing feeling walking into the stadium."
No offers have come for Parsons, but he's working hard as he draws closer. Parsons also says that people like his ability at the offensive tackle position.
"The coaches have told me that I have the quickness they need at tackle and I'm the tallest one at the school," Parsons said. "I'll play for any school that gives me the offer. But, if A&M gives me an offer, that's probably where I'm going."
Parsons says that many coaches could be coming to see him during the spring. He says that he's working hard to have the best spring he can in order to impress.
The things he's working on before then and his senior year is what he's been working on since he was a freshman.
"I'm always improving on my speed, want to get heavier, but the main thing I want to improve on is my technique," he said. "You can bench press a ton of weight, but if you don't have technique, you don't have anything."
