Sleeper Ohio ATH commits to Cats

Kentucky has picked up a commitment from one of Ohio’s rising prospects.
Cincinnati Princeton athlete Jarrell Williams, who earned Division I All-Ohio honors and was co-offensive player of the year, gave his verbal to the Wildcats after an official visit this past weekend according to his high school coach.

“He’s very excited about his future at Kentucky,” Princeton coach Brian Dodds said. “They got on him real early and really made it an easy decision for him.”
Williams (6-2, 180, 4.5) had also picked up offers from Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio, Miami and Bowling Green, among others.
As a senior, he moved into the Vikings’ starting quarterback job, trying to fill the big shoes of Cincinnati signee Mike Daniels. He responded with a season which saw him pass for 1,950 yards and 14 touchdowns while rushing for 1,068 yards and 17 scores.
“He had a really special year,” Dodds said. “He’s a very athletic young man, just a tremendous all-around athlete. He’s not only a good football player, but a great basketball player.”
Dodds said UK projects Williams as a defensive back and return specialist.
“He was originally a free safety and a kickoff/punt returner for us at the beginning of the year, but we had two quarterbacks get injured,” he said. “We lost our first game of the year and didn’t have a leader at that position, so we stuck him in at quarterback. He just turned out to be tremendous.
“We knew he could run and make things happen with his feet, but we had no idea he could throw and lead a team like he did. He wound up with about 4,000 yards of total offense in nine games. That’s just an incredible year.”
