Sleeper lineman picking up steam

Athletic linemen with the frame to add weight are always coveted by D-I schools. Universities feel that they can take an athletic big man and mold him into a D-I athlete.
One player who fits that bill is Spencer Johnson (6-6, 250, 4.9) from Lancaster (Calif.) Antelope Valley.

Johnson plays both ways but projects as an offensive lineman on the collegiate level. He moves incredibly well. One play last season, Johnson blocked a field goal scooped up the ball and rambled 40 yards before anyone touched him.
"Spencer for his size is one of the fastest big guys I've ever seen," Antelope Valley coach Jon Fleming said. "He finishes every play."
"Spencer is real good at run blocking and pulls as good as anyone I've coached or seen," Fleming said. "He seals off that edge."
Johnson is very versatile and has the skill level to play center or guard on the next level. He also has that lean frame that D-I schools love to sign. Johnson will be able to gain another 40 pounds easily and not lose any quickness.
Johnson also has decent strength with his 265-pound bench and good lower body strength with 450 pound squat. He currently cleans 235.
Johnson was an all-league selection for his junior season performance. He is getting recruiting attention from USC, UCLA, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Indiana, Boston College and Utah.
