Sleeper lands Big 12 offer

Wake up to sleeper Kevin Smith (6-2, 205, 4.5) from Compton (Calif.) Centennial. One school has beaten everyone to punch and have offered this about to blowup receiver who has everything you could want in a wide out.
"Kevin is an exceptional athlete," Centennial coach Eric Scott said. "He's also a good basketball player who has a 40-inch vertical.

"Kevin passes the eyeball test," Scott said. "If you watch him play, he passes the whole test."
The Colorado Buffaloes are the school that has offered, but Scott is convinced the Buffs will have a lot of company once other D-I schools see him in action.
"Nobody has really seen Kevin yet," Scott said. "Colorado was the first school to really know about him."
"Coach Darian Hagan came by the school and sat down and watched the tape," Scott said. "He loved him, so I just think it is matter of time before other colleges see him."
"In three games, Kevin has close to 500 yards receiving and somewhere between 15 and 20 receptions and six touchdowns," Scott said. "He runs well, but he could end up being even faster.
"Kevin was a basketball guy and they run a little different," Scott said. "He's definitely going to get a lot better. He's a throwback.
"I guarantee you once colleges find out about him, he's going to get more offers," Scott said. "Once the colleges get the tape, I think they're going to love him. He's exceptional on the field.
"Kevin is also pretty good in the classroom," Scott said. "He's close to a 3.0 core, so he will need is a passing SAT score and he's good to go. He will be taking the test in November.
"Kevin will probably be out of all the receivers I have coached on the high school level," Scott said. "He is probably the best one. Kevin is the best receiver I have ever coached. He's the man.
"Some receivers can go deep, others are more possession guys," Scott said. "Kevin is all the above. There isn't anything that he can't do. You really have to see him.
"I was pretty sure about Kevin, but after I saw him in games and playing, I became convinced," Scott said. "He's hard to bring down, he's strong, fast, and he has big hands.
"I've never had a guy with Kevin's stat numbers this early," Scott said. "He is special."
