Sleeper fullback grabs first offer

The first offer has come for Cuero (Texas) fullback/tight end J.T. Rudd but it doesn't look like things are going to stop there.
Houston became the ice-breaking scholarship offer for the 6-foot-1, 226-pound two-way offensive player. Like any prospect that receives that first offer, Rudd was excited about having opportunity out there for him and wondered who might be next.

"Well, they were my first one and they sound pretty interested in me," Rudd said. "I'm going to look at it pretty hard. About two weeks ago I went down there for the mini-camp and they showed me around so I knew a little bit about them."
"SMU, TCU, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State are all sending me stuff now."
The ball is really rolling on the sleeper prospect and it appears he's now out from the proverbial shadows.
The Cowboys could be next, according to Rudd.
"They've talked about an offer but it hasn't come yet," Rudd said. "There is a lot of mail from them and the others so it's nice to get all this attention."
When asked about his favorite school, Rudd said that it will always include the schools giving him a scholarship. Taking in the Texas, Houston, and Baylor camp obviously helped get his name out there to many college coaches.
As for official visits, he has a strategy in place.
"I know I'm going to take a few, but I'm just not sure where yet," he said. "I'm still keeping it open. A lot of coaches have asked me to put them on their list for visits, but I have to see who is the most interested."
Like many other high school prospects, practice time is now the focus.
"We're doing really well and hopefully this is a state championship year for us," he said. "I kind of want to make my recruiting decision early, so I can focus on winning the title."
Rudd earned second-team all-state honors for class 3A as a junior on defense.
