Sleeper Elder close to first offers

After a big junior season for West Mesquite (Texas) High School safety Markeith Elder, things are picking up in a big way for the talented 2008 prospect.
Elder, who recorded 59 total tackles and six interceptions in 2006, has recently found out about some written offer that are possible on the way. The 6-foot-2, 172-pounder says that after another big season, things could really start popping up.

"Kansas, Iowa, and Abilene Christian," Elder said about early verbal offers. "They've just been sending me stuff and I've been talking to them. Kansas (coaches) told me that they liked my highlight tape and they wanted me to visit.
"Colorado was another school that wants me to come up for a visit. They were talking to me about an official visit this fall."
Elder says that he has been busy at home with his family and along with 7-on-7 competition, hasn't had time to make his way on any visits or camps. The second-team all-district prospect says that Kansas though is one school that he's very interested in.
"They have a good school and good coaches," Elder said about the Big 12 school. "They said that they may wait until after the season to offer in writing."
