Sleeper DE shows off versatility early

Paramount (Calif.) defensive tackle/inside linebacker Rocky Mulitauopele has had to switch positions a few times this year from his normal linebacker position to the defensive line, but the versatile player is making the transition look easy.
At 6-foot-3, 265 pounds, it's no surprise that coaches see Mulitauopele at numerous spots on defense. That is also why schools are starting to turn up the attention on the California sleeper in a big way.

"I'm getting used to all the shifts," Mulitauopele said. "It's going okay so far. Defensive end is just something else to learn."
Washington, Nevada, California, USC, and Arizona have been the letter writers so far for Mulitauopele but the offers haven't come just yet.
"The only school I've really talked to the most about an offer is Nevada," he said. "They called but I wasn't around so I have to call them back and see where they're at."
Visits are up next with a Pac-10 trip on deck.
"Actually, I'm going to go see Washington," he said. "They've been asking me to come up there so I'm definitely going, but I just don't know when that will be."
As for a decision, that depends on who and when the first offer comes.
"Yeah that's pretty much the plan," he said. "I guess we'll have to see who's first."
Mulitauopele earned all-league honors as a defensive tackle during his sophomore season and all-league honors as a linebacker during his junior campaign.
