Sleeper DE Could Get Offers Soon

One of the top players from the talent-rich area of Baltimore has a list of five favorites, and appears as though he will make his final decision from that pool.
“My five favorite schools are Virginia, Maryland, Boston College, Towson, and West Virginia, in no particular order,” said 6-foot-4, 265-pound defensive end Antwan Johnson of Baltimore (Md.) Patterson. “The schools I’ve seen the most of are Maryland and Virginia. I camped at Virginia this summer, and the coaches took me on a personal tour, which was really nice. Coach Groh is a no-nonsense guy, but he communicates really well with his players.”

“Maryland is close to home, and they have a great program. It would be nice to play for a big program so I could be someone that kids from my neighborhood and city could look up to as a role model.”
While Johnson doesn’t have any offers yet, he has schools telling him they may offer him. Towson, Virginia, and Maryland have all hinted at scholarship offers in the future.
Despite saying his top five are equal, Johnson spoke very highly of Virginia, and then talked about Maryland quite a bit. Those are the only two schools he knows he’s going to take official visits to, but says he probably will take all of his officials before deciding.
“I play defensive end and offensive tackle. My biggest assets are my speed and leadership qualities. I run the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds, so I’m tough to stop coming from the end.”
When, and who offers Johnson will go a long ways towards determining when he makes his decision. But he also seemed insistent on taking all his official visits.
