Sleeper DC corner enjoys visit to UNC

Washington (D.C.) Coolidge cornerback Eriq Lewis continues to look for his first Division I offer. Is the 5-foot-11, 170-pounder any closer after a trip this past week to North Carolina?
"I fell in love with North Carolina as soon as I got there," he said. "I loved the southern hospitality. You don't get that here in D.C. and I like the way they support their players.

"I'm hoping for North Carolina to offer. The coaches said they were really impressed with me after seeing my highlight tape and plan to come to the game this Friday to see a little more and possibly offer. The coaches added that I am probably one of their biggest cornerbacks they are recruiting."
Currently holding Division II scholarships, Lewis is receiving interest from numerous other schools including New Mexico, Towson, Delaware, Old Dominion and Howard.
"Many of those are guaranteeing and offer around December or January."
With interest picking up, what does the cornerback want in a college?
"Basically all the colleges have to beat North Carolina," he said. "I went up there and was really sold on the facilities and coaching staff."
Lewis has helped Coolidge to a 5-3 season as he has posted one punt return for a touchdown and two interceptions.
"Last year I only had one interception since I had a lot of seniors in front of me," he said. "This year I'm a more dominant factor on my team and playing a lot more positions this season."
