Sleeper DB loves Clemson

One of the best players in South Carolina that no one is talking about is Wagener (S.C.) Wagener-Salley cornerback Channing Schofield. He has already picked up several scholarship offers since his stellar performance at the Atlanta NIKE camp and more could be on the way.
“I have scholarship offers from Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, South Carolina and Coastal Carolina,” Schofield said. “Clemson and Georgia both are showing me a lot of interest as well. They want me to come to their camp and they wanted to see more film on me.”

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Schofield ran one of the best times at the Atlanta NIKE camp, clocking in at 4.47 seconds. He also had a 32-inch vertical jump.
“I really like Clemson a lot,” Schofield said. “They are definitely my favorite right now. I also like Florida, Florida State, Wake Forest, Georgia and Vanderbilt. The South Carolina offer is a great offer, but I’m not all that interested in them because I am a die hard Clemson fan.”
As well as attending the NIKE camp in Atlanta, Schofield also attended a mini-camp at Clemson over the summer. He stated that he doesn’t have plans to attend any others.
“I kind of want to make an early decision,” Schofield said. “I would like to be committed by the early part of football season, if not before it starts. If Clemson offered I would have to think real hard about committing.”
As a junior he played running back, rushing 100 times for 1,018 yards and nine touchdowns. He also racked up 61 tackles and three interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.
“Academics are going to be an important factor in my decision,” Schofield said. “I would like to stay close to home if I could and Clemson is pretty close. I would really like to play early, but I know I have to earn that. I will watch and see how well the coaches bond with their players when I visit a school too.”
