Lakeland (Fla.) Lake Gibson defensive back Marvin Clecidor is a name that few outside of college coaches have heard about so far, but get ready because he has made his impact on the recruiting world.
“I have offers from Illinois and Rutgers as of right now,” Clecidor said. “I have been getting calls from Indiana, Maryland, Central Florida, Georgia Tech, Purdue and Wake Forest.”
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Clecidor runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, has a 290-pound bench press, a 415-pound squat and a 35-inch vertical jump.
“I would say right now that my top five schools are Indiana, Illinois, Central Florida, Maryland and Wake Forest,” Clecidor said. “I grew up a Florida State fan as a kid. I would say that Illinois and Indiana are my top two schools. I think they both present a good opportunity to go in and compete for early playing time.”
An excellent academic student Clecidor sports a 3.9 GPA and projects as a full-qualifier.
“I’m looking for a school that can offer me a good education,” Clecidor said. “I want to go to a school in a good location, I don’t want to go to anywhere too big or too far from home. I would prefer to stay in the southeast and play if I can, but I would leave if I had to.”
