Skowronek heading back to NU

Fort Wayne (Ind.) Homestead wide receiver Ben Skowronek just visited Northwestern two weeks ago, but he will be making a return visit to Evanston this Friday.
"I really want to take my mom up there; last time I went up I just took my dad," Skowronek said. "I want my mom to see it, to sit down with the coaches just to get a feel for them. Of course she is one of the big influences on my life, so I want her to help me out with this process."

The offer from Northwestern is one of 15 for the 6-foot-4, 200-pound Skowronek, but they stand out as a team that has his interest.
"I really like Northwestern a lot," Skowronek said. "Their academics are world class, and also my cousin, T.J. Green, is walking on next year to play at Northwestern as a quarterback. So, they are definitely a school that is pretty high on my list."
T.J. is the son of former NFL quarterback Trent Green who played his college ball at Indiana. The Hoosiers have also offered Skowronek, and his ties to the in-state program do not stop there. Besides Green, Skowronek has another uncle that played for the Hoosiers and an older brother who walked on in Bloomington.
"I have visited (Indiana) a lot in the past couple years," Skowronek said. "I have been able to see them more than any other school in this process and visit on all the game days. They like me as a hybrid wide receiver/tight end, so I have been talking to them more intensely the last couple weeks."
Following this upcoming weekend's visit to, Skowronek is looking to schedule more visits to college campuses before his planned early June decision.
"I talked with the Vanderbilt staff last week and really want to get out to Nashville in a couple weeks," Skowronek said. "I look forward to getting out to the East Coast, see Boston College, Rutgers and maybe another school out there. Then, get down to North Carolina and see North Carolina State, Wake Forest and hopefully Duke."
"I want to make a decision June 7 with my buddies Auston Robertson and Austin Mack, so I'll have to get these visits in in the next couple weeks."
Skowronek is coming off a junior season in which he caught 42 passes for 841 yards and scored 12 touchdowns.
