Skinner gets two impressive calls

One of the top cover corners in the Dallas Metroplex has received two phone calls so far in September and is working hard on staying busy on the field.
“I’ve talked to coaches from Rice and Missouri,” Arlington Lamar corner Billy Skinner, who is 6-foot, 185-pounds and ranked as a two-star player, said. “The Missouri coach was talking to me about how they have the top journalism program in the nation there. I want to major in journalism, so that was great to hear.

“Rice’s coach was talking about how they have a great atmosphere there in Houston and that’s where I need to be if I’m a serious student athlete.”
But neither Rice, nor Missouri have offered Skinner a scholarship at this point. He’s also receiving regular attention from Arkansas and did have an offer from Toledo at one point, but hasn’t heard from the Rockets in quite some time.
On the field, Skinner is impressing.
He’s already racked up one interception and has 17 tackles in three games. He’s hoping to lead Lamar to victory Friday night against the state’s No. 2 ranked team, DeSoto.
“They’re loaded,” Skinner said. “They have talent and speed at every position, but we’re going to be ready for them. We’re going to play hard.”
