Skelton having quite the season

Quarterback John Skelton of El Paso (Texas) Burgess is not having the type of year he expected sitting at 1-4, but his 1,000 plus yard performance so far has his own stock rising.
At 6-foot-5, 201 pounds, Skelton is a big recruiting target, especially for the quarterback position. Some schools are really starting to turn up the heat on the attention and has him expecting an offer soon.

"SMU has been calling every weekend but they haven't offered yet," Skelton said. "They're trying to tell me that they're a school on the rise and how good their new coaching staff is. They also talked about their big win versus TCU."
"I think SMU right now is the most interested along with UTEP. Both schools have been talking to me a lot."
He may not be holding any offers yet, but Skelton is also not going to jump on the first one that comes.
"I'm really going to weigh my options as long as I can," Skelton said. "I'll take all of my visits, talk to the coaches, so it won't just be the first team that offers."
A couple of other schools like Columbia and Army are making a push for a visit, but Skelton isn't quite sure his exact destinations for official trips yet.
"SMU and Texas Tech will for sure be one," Skelton said. "My uncle went to Columbia and he's been talking to the coaches. That depends on my SAT. Army's coaching staff has been talking tome a lot, but I don't know if the Army is the route I want to go."
"I'm just checking all this out before I make any definite plans."
