Size Speed Lead To Offers For WR

These days we’re getting used to seeing receivers with what was once a rare combination of size and speed. With guys like Greg Hutcherson, that type of receiver is not the exception, but is becoming the norm.
At 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, Hutcherson provides any quarterback with a great deep threat, and with his 40-yard dash speed of 4.5 seconds, he’s a threat to take it to the end zone every time he touches the ball. So which schools is Hutcherson looking at the hardest?

“My top five are West Virginia, Iowa, UConn, Pitt, and Boston College,” he said. “All of those schools have offenses which use receivers in an exciting way. I would like to be able to play my freshman year, but that won’t be one of the major factors in my decision. I’ve met the coaches at West Virginia, Pitt, and Kent State, and they all seem really cool.”
Aside from his top five, teams from the Mid-American Conference have been after Hutcherson right from the beginning.
“I’m probably hearing the most from Kent State and Bowling Green. It would be nice to be able to play early, and they would offer than opportunity. Pretty much all the schools in the MAC have offered, and so have Iowa and UConn. I think Pitt may be about to offer me as well.”
Last year at Vandergrift (Pa.) Kiski Area, Hutcherson showed why he’s considered one of the premier deep threats in the nation. He caught 36 passes for 800 yards with 13 touchdowns, and faced multiple defenders at times. So when can we expect to hear more from Hutcherson?
“I was going to make an early commitment originally. But after I talked it over with some people, I’ve decided I’m going to take all of my visits before deciding.”
