Six stand out for Scales

Wildwood (Mo.) Lafayette tight end Brendan Scales has been rapidly adding offers in the last couple months, and six of those schools have caught his attention most.
"Right now I could say I have a good top six of Iowa, Arkansas, Arizona State, Mizzou, Michigan State and Nebraska, not in any order," Scales said.

Scales holds nearly 15 offers, and the top six schools on his list does not constitute a final group. He is open to more teams entering his recruitment, and got good news from an SEC school this week.
"(Monday) I was on the phone with the Alabama tight end coach," Scales said. "He said they would be extending an offer out to me later on this week and I'll get on the phone with (Nick) Saban.
"That (interest) was really new. I hadn't talked with any of them, but the guy that helps me out with recruiting just said Coach (Bobby) Williams wanted me to give him a call. He said he was really interested, they loved my tape and will be offering later this week."
The amount and diversity of offers and interest have caught Scales by surprise, and at this time he is still in the evaluation stage of his recruitment.
"My mindset has changed a little bit because I didn't think all this was going to happen," Scales said. "Now I really want to focus on the right things, stay grounded and keep my eyes on God."
Scales plans to continue his college evaluations this month with more college campus visits.
"This Friday I am going to Memphis, then I have to come back for my track meet," he said. "I'm not sure after that. I know I have some options, but I don't have any set dates. There's basically my top six, and then some other ones like West Virginia, N.C. State, Wake Forest and Syracuse."
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Scales is coming off a junior season in which he caught 49 passes for 670 yards and nine touchdowns.
