Defensive tackle/offensive guard Derrell Hand is one of the top prospects in the Philadelphia area. Since coaches have begun calling again, he's seen recruiting pick up.
"All the schools I'm looking at are even right now," said Hand. "Iowa, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Miami and Syracuse are my favorites. I haven't been worrying too much about narrowing it down more than that, because I'm mostly focused on our season."
The 6-foot-2, 300-pound lineman from Philadelphia (Pa.) West Catholic recently helped lead his team to a 14-0 victory in their first game of the season.
"I've been called by coaches from Michigan State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin and Syracuse since coaches were allowed to start calling again. I have offers from all six of the schools I'm looking at, so I don't have to worry about impressing anyone now. I'm just looking forward to going out with my teammates and working to improve every day. That's definitely going to help me next year."
Iowa is recruiting Hand to play offensive tackle, and every other school is recruiting him to line up on defense.
