Six schools Okwuegbunam could visit

With close to 20 scholarship offers, Springfield (Ill.) Sacred Heart Griffin three-star athlete Albert Okwuegbunam has plenty of options for official visit destinations. Six schools, however, have emerged as the most likely to host him officially.

"Nothing's scheduled, but so far I've talked to Syracuse, Nebraska, West Virginia, Indiana, Missouri and Michigan State," Okwuegbunam said. "There are other schools that could be (official visits), but those are the schools I'm talking to the most."
At this stage of his recruitment, Okwuegbunam said there is no pecking order or teams to beat, but the six he is talking to about official visits are on his mind the most. When official visits will begun to be taken, though, is still to be determined.
"Going to see some games would be nice, but it's looking more towards after the season because we don't have any bye weeks," Okwuegbunam said.
No unofficial game visits are on the schedule at this time either, though Okwuegbunam was considering a trip to Michigan State last weekend for their contest against Oregon.
"I was looking into doing it and thought I was going to, but it just didn't work out," Okwuegbunam said. "I'd like to get up there, but I don't have anything scheduled."
With official visits not likely until after the season, a decision is nowhere on the horizon either. Okwuegbunam is not looking to take his recruitment all the way out until National Signing Day in February, however.
"I don't think it would go out that long, but you never know," he said.
Sacred Heart Griffin has jumped out to a 3-0 start on their 2015 campaign. They have put a running clock on every team they have played thus far, so Okwuegbunam has not seen much on-field time in the second half. Still, the 6-foot-5, 215-pound prospect has caught 10 passes and scored five touchdowns through those first three games.
