Jacob Sirmon capped a very productive summer by winning the inaugural Northwest 9 passing competition last week in the state of Washington.

Before that, college interest had started rolling in for the 2018 quarterback from Bothell, Wash. Sirmon, the nephew of USC linebackers coach Peter Sirmon, camped with Arizona State and has generated his share of buzz heading into his sophomore campaign.

WHAT'S NEXT?: It's still very early for Sirmon, but the offseason he had should be an indication of what's to come. The 6-foot-3, 203-pound prospect has already drawn interest from Oregon, UCLA, Washington and Washington State, and he intends to make it out to some games this fall and continuing to build relationships with coaches.
IN HIS WORDS: "Going out to ASU was a lot of fun and great competition," Smith told Rivals.com. "The coaches are awesome and I learned a lot. It's always fun to compete in that type of environment and I got a lot from it. I'm hopefully going down there again and furthering my relationship with ASU. Coach (Mike) Norvell is an awesome coach with a very intimate style, so it helped getting tips on my footwork, release and timing."
RIVALS' REACTION: Sirmon has the family connection with the Trojans but he's not limiting his scope by any means. He visited Washington State earlier this summer and also camped with the Huskies. The youngster wants to check in with the Ducks during the season, too, and with a strong season, should surface as one of the region's top 2018 signal callers.
