Sirmon commits to Washington

Jacob Sirmon burst onto the recruiting scene before his sophomore season and he created some news Sunday by committing to hometown Washington.
The 6-foot-3, 203-pound Sirmon, one of the West region's top quarterbacks in the 2018 class, held early offers from Nebraska and Washington State, and garnered looks from numerous other programs. Yet the nearby school won out before the race truly began.

Sirmon, the nephew of USC recruiting coordinator and linebackers coach Peter Sirmon, spent the last two days on the Washington campus watching bowl practices and committed to Chris Petersen in person.

IN HIS WORDS: "You know, I just knew in my heart it's the place for me," Sirmon told Rivals.com. "I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. I love the coaching staff, the program is going in the right direction and I can stay close to home. There are so many reasons.
"Coach Petersen was quite pleased. I was there in person the last two days watching practice and meetings, so it was nice to commit in person."
RIVALS' REACTION: The gunslinger from Bothell, Wash., is a massive pickup for the Huskies, locking down a potentially highly ranked prospect very early while recently the top local quarterbacks -- five-stars Max Browne and Jacob Eason -- decided to leave the area for college. Sirmon has a big arm and advanced footwork, and should continue to progress and likely catch the eye of more college coaches.
