Memphis (Tenn.) Whitehaven cornerback Darrius Sims is in the middle of attending several camps. The 5-foot-9, 175-pounder is also starting to believe that a final decision may not be too far down the road.
"I actually have been to a Nike Camp at Memphis along with the Ole Miss camp and Memphis's camp," he said. "I'm going to Tennessee on Tuesday and then I'm supposed to be at camp on Friday and Saturday at Vanderbilt."
Sims holds offers from Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, Memphis, Marshall, Mississippi State, Arkansas State and Western Kentucky.
Of the schools listed for trips, Tennessee is the only one yet to offer.
"That's the thing, if they give me an offer they'll be in my top three or four," he said. "I guess when I get there Tuesday they just want to see me at camp to finalize an offer. I'm trying to give them a chance since they are close to home."
Tennessee would move up his list if an offer came, but other schools are already there.
"Vanderbilt, Ole Miss and Memphis are up there," he said. "Basically, I am really close with those coaching staffs at all three of those schools. Coach Odom with Memphis, Coach McGriff with Ole Miss and Coach Barlow at Vanderbilt, I have a tight relationship with all of them and I could see myself at any of those schools."
Since he has a solid list of top schools, a final decision may be nearing.
"It's getting close to that time after I take some visits and sit down with my parents," he said. "There is probably a chance I could make my decision during the Team USA festivities from June 22nd through July 8th. I know they do a press conference and I think that is closer to July 8th."
