Sims down to three schools

Boca Raton (Fla.) John Leonard running back Damian Sims took his first official visit of the recruiting season this weekend.
“I was at Kansas State this weekend,” the 5-foot-9, 185-pound running back said. “It went really well. They had my name on the back of the jersey hanging in the locker room. That was pretty neat.”

Sims enjoyed talking with Wildcat coach Bill Snyder and running backs coach Michael Smith.
“Coach Smith was great to talk to,” Sims said. “He was telling me all about Kansas State and how great of a place it is. He used to play there. He’s been there for a long time. Coach Snyder visited with me this morning. I was the first one to talk to him today in the meeting room. He’s a really good guy, too.”
Sims has a visit scheduled to Virginia Tech (Jan. 30) and previously had one scheduled for Florida State for Jan. 16.
“I won’t be able to go to the Florida State visit,” he said. “I’m playing in an all-star game that weekend, so I can’t go. I have seen the school enough, so it isn’t a big deal to not be able to officially visit. I will visit Virginia Tech before making my decision. Right now Kansas State is my top school. I like them a lot. I want to see what Virginia Tech has to show me. Those three are my top three and final three schools.”
