Simpkins planning August decision

MIAMI - An offer from Utah capped the latest string of opportunities that appeared in front of Demari Simpkins. The Hallandale (Fla.) wide receiver now has 12 college options. And while just two of those options (Utah and Wisconsin) are "power conference" programs, Simpkins refuses to jump into naming leaders or frontrunners.
Instead, his approach is a touch more reserved. It's fitting with his larger personality.

"I don't have a leader right now," Simpkins said. "there's not a school or even a few schools up there above the rest."
Simpkins was a bit taken back by his recent offer from Wisconsin, which came as a bit of a surprise. The Badgers had been in contact, sure, but when things became official, the three-star wide receiver started doing research.
"Only thing I knew about them before was that I know some players they have," Simpkins said. "I know some of the guys they have from down here. I want to visit out there eventually."
There are other travel plans that are more set in stone. Simpkins plans to visit Cincinnati in late July. He also plans to attend North Carolina's team camp. As for the schools making the most aggressive recruiting pushes, those fluctuate.
"Bowling Green and Cincinnati are coming really hard on me right now," Simpkins said. "Those two talk to me a lot."
Despite the recent surge of scholarship offers, Simpkins says he hopes to make a verbal commitment sometime in August.
