Simpkins carries offers into camp season

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. -- Demari Simpkins' recruitment is young. It's a fact that is not lost on the Hallandale (Fla.) High School junior. He's not much into rushing things and doesn't plan to force an early commitment. While his four offers are intriguing. He just assumes wait for more to arrive.
So far, Alabama State, USF, Cincinnati, Akron and Umass have made things official with a scholarship offer. But Simpkins, who plays both receiver and cornerback, says one school stands out.

He shies away from naming an official favorite because it's so early in the process. That said, Cincinnati has a few things working in its favor. It's why he names the Bearcats as a standout of sorts.
" I like them a lot because I talk to Eddie Gran a lot and my Godbrother [Kahlil Lewis] just signed with Cincinnati, I like that. I don't know a lot about the school yet, but I really want to find out."
Simpkins, who is listed as an "athlete" plans to play only wide receiver during the offseason 7-on-7 circuit. With that already decided, Simpkins has now turned his attention to the early stages of planning unofficial visits.
That schedule, at least as it stands now, is very much a work in progress.
"I'm planning on going to a full pack of camps this summer," he said. "If I can, I want to check out Florida State and Georgia. I'm going to try to check out Cincinnati, but that's pretty far."
