Simmons now has 17 offers

Virginia Beach (Va.) Landstown linebacker/safety Deveon Simmons is one of the fastest rising prospects on the east coast. Simmons, a player that could play either safety or linebacker at the next level, received two big SEC offers recently.
"I participated in the Virginia Beach Combine this week. I put up some good numbers and Florida and Georgia offered me after they saw me in person," said the 6-foot-1, 208-pound defensive playmaker who runs a 4.5 second 40-yard dash.

Simmons posted an eye-opening 4.39 40-yard dash and did 18 reps at 185 pounds. What colleges were in attendance?
"Virginia and Virginia Tech were there of course. Nebraska, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, and NC State were also there."
Does Simmons have a leader at this point?
"No, I am wide open. I am focusing on getting my work done in school and getting prepared for my senior season. I am going to try to narrow my list down to five or six by the end of the summer."
Simmons had a very solid junior campaign that saw him register 92 total tackles, 15 sacks, one interception and a fumble recovery and his season was capped by being named first-team all-state and Region Defensive Player of the Year and he says there will be likely be more of the same from his senior year.
