McKeesport, Pa., is home to two of the best defensive line prospects in the region for the Class of 2011.
Before Delvon Simmons and Branden Jackson team up to wreak havoc on opposing offensive lines this coming fall they will be on the road a little bit together this summer, visiting at least one school that has offered scholarships to both of them.
"I haven't been out to any (schools) yet but I've got plans to go to a couple of them," said Simmons, the 6-foot-5, 265-pound defensive tackle. "I'm gonna try to get out to as many as I can.
"I think either (next) Wednesday or Thursday I'm supposed to go with Branden (Jackson) and my coach to North Carolina."
The trip to Chapel Hill will be an unofficial visit but a chance for the Tar Heels to roll out the red carpet for two of their top line targets.
"We've talked to them," Simmons said of the North Carolina staff. "I talked to their defensive coordinator the other day. You could say we like them. All of them (schools) are equal at the moment, though, so we've got to see them and evaluate."
Simmons said he is going to try to visit Rutgers, Michigan and perhaps some other schools this summer. What he is able to do will largely hinge on what his brother's plans are, as he would likely be traveling with him.
Jackson and Simmons have discussed the possibility of attending school together as a packaged deal.
"I mean, when it comes down to it you've gotta do what's best for you," Simmons said. "But we've been talking about it and it sounds good. We've talked about going as a packaged deal every now and then."
Though Simmons now says he is open to all of the schools recruiting him last month he said North Carolina, West Virginia and Michigan were his favorites.
