Simmons has some early favorites

Ewing Simmons was an under-the-radar prospect who shined this summer at the B2G Elite Camp and since then the Stockton (Calif.) St. Mary's defensive end has seen his recruitment take off.
Some favorites have emerged for the 6-foot-4, 235-pound prospect who is up to eight offers and Simmons is hoping to take some official visits soon.

The only visit Simmons has set up is to Fresno State on Dec. 9 and he'd also like to book trips to Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State and Washington. He said the Wildcats, Buffaloes, Sun Devils and Bulldogs are his four favorites.
Simmons doesn't know when he can take other trips but he'd like to take some during the season.
"My recruiting has really, really, really picked up," Simmons said. "It depends on my schedule right now because I have practice on the weekends after my games so I'm planning on scheduling visits.
"I want to visit first to see the atmosphere, the school, all those kind of things, to see where I want to make my decision and go to school."
Because Simmons only has one visit scheduled and wants to take a few others before making his decision, the Stockton St. Mary's standout said he's hoping to take trips sooner rather than later.
Whether that's possible is still undetermined because of St. Mary's schedule but Simmons is hoping to get on the road multiple times over the next couple months before he makes his commitment.
"I just want to get through the season, make sure all that is taken care of and then commitment time won't be for a while," Simmons said.
"I'm going to try to squeeze some (visits) in because our season is almost over unless we go to the playoffs. You can't ever predict when things are going to be finished.
"Depending on how our season goes I'd like to squeeze in some visits soon. Signing Day is February so I don't have too much time. I'll probably take some visits soon."
