Simmons favoring family schools

Long Beach (Calif.) Linwood linebacker Marlin Simmons is enjoying the recruiting process, while being the third in a line of talented brothers.
"Everything is going good," the 6-foot-1, 210 pound Simmons said. "It is a lot of fun to talk to coaches about things when they call. I can learn a lot about the schools and the systems from them."

With one brother at K-State and one brother at Southern California, the family ties are pulling from each direction.
"I have a lot of interest in both K-State and USC," he said. "I know I will visit both places for sure. I won't do it until the season is over though. But those are the two schools at the top of my list right now.
"My brother at USC is a senior and my brother at K-State is a sophomore at K-State, so I would have the opportunity to play with Marvin if I went to K-State. I'm not going to choose a school just because my brother is there, but that would a lot of fun to play with him."
The two family schools aren't the only schools interested in the three-star rated Simmons.
"I've gotten calls from Cal, Oregon and UCLA recently too," he said. "I have interest in any school that is interested in me. I don't want to rule anything out. I'm open to learning more about each school I can as we go along here. I might run across something that is a great fit for me."
Simmons has not lined up any official visits yet.
"I'm looking at taking them when our season is over," he said. "I don't think I could play on a Friday night and then go on a visit and be back in time for school on Monday. So, I've just decided to wait until we're done to take them."
