Silcox a solid prospect

You have already heard about one in Blountstown, Fla., running back Chance Attaway, but there is another prospect on the team that will be drawing the attention of college recruiters when the evaluation period starts in May, linebacker Corey Silcox.
"He has started the past three years for us at safety," Blountstown coach Bobby Johns said. "Not many guys can start as a freshman, but Corey did. He is definitely one of the reasons that this team made it all the way to the state championship last year."

Silcox comes in at 6-foot-0, 200 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds. He also has a 330-pound bench press and 330-pound power clean as well as a 450-pound squat.
"He does a lot of things well out there on the field for us," Johns said. "He has real good hands and has the great ability to read the play. He has those great instincts that you have to play linebacker."
As a junior Silcox collected 118 tackles and had six interceptions. He plans to attend the NIKE camp in Tallahassee on May 1.
"Corey has played some safety for us the past and he did really well there," Johns said. "He's real aggressive and is really good at the point of attack. We are going to move him to linebacker and that is where he is going to be playing for us this fall. I think that is the position that he will be playing on the college level as well."
Silcox is already receiving a decent amount of attention, but Johns fully expects things to pick up before long.
"He is getting some mail and stuff from some pretty big schools now, but I think that is going to pick up as his video gets out and as schools come by here in May and get a good look at him," Johns said. "I think once he makes the transition to linebacker a lot more schools will start to really notice that."
