Signing Day Surprise No. 1

With all of the attention surrounding defensive end Jarvis Moss at Denton (Texas) Ryan on Tuesday, some other major news kind of got swept under the rug, according to coach Joey Florence.
According to coach Florence, two-star safety prospect Charlie Jefferson is going to sign with Texas A&M, instead of Houston.

“It just came up (Tuesday),” Florence said. “I really don’t know how it came about, but Texas A&M and coach Franchione called up here and offered Charlie and that’s who he is going to sign with.”
Call this the first signing day surprise for Wednesday.
Jefferson came on strong with a solid senior season – one in which he helped Ryan win back to back titles. He caused a lot of damage on defense, but he also racked up some solid numbers on offense with two touchdowns and seven receptions for a 14 yard average.
He also came up big for Ryan in the playoffs this season. Jefferson had an interception and a fumble return for a touchdown against Stephenville, caught the game-winning touchdown against Aledo, intercepted two passes against Ennis and one more against Brenham.
