THE SITUATION

Four-star wide receiver Bryan Robisnon chose Florida State on Wednesday, ending a long courtship that spanned multiple coaching staffs. The South Florida-based wide receiver looked like a FSU lean when the program was being run by dismissed head coach Willie Taggart. And while Robinson may have wavered a bit during the coaching search, new head coach Mike Norvell was able to bring him back into the fold without much drama.

WHAT IT MEANS FOR FLORIDA STATE

Landing Robinson is a well-deserved feather in Novell’s cap, as reeling in a highly touted prospect with options despite taking over late in the cycle is no easy task. Robinson visited both Maryland and Nebraska down the stretch but the allure of Florida State was too much for either program to overcome.

In Robinson, FSU gets a rangy wide receiver with the length to make up for his lack of truly elite speed. Robinson’s calling cards, however, are his sure hands. The 6-foot-1 wideout almost never drops a pass and has a history of making acrobatic grab in both games and camp settings. He brings a certain level of versatility as well and he can catch balls over the middle in addition to making plays in the flat. FSU’s task will be to bulk him up and polish his routes.
