WHAT HE DID: Porter was a two-year starter at North Allegheny, one of Pittsburgh's top high school programs. For his career, he totaled 10 interceptions and added 48 tackles, 34 of which were solo. Porter also played a little bit of wide receiver, totaling 19 receptions for 329 yards and four touchdowns.

WHAT HE WON: Porter was a first-team selection at cornerback by USA Today and the Pennsylvania Football Writers Association. He was also nominated for the Mr. PA Football Award. A three-star prospect, Porter is 52nd-ranked cornerback in the Class of 2019 and the 11th-ranked prospect in Pennsylvania’s Class of 2019.

WHERE HE VISITED: Porter visited Pittsburgh and West Virginia in the spring of his junior season before earning an offer from Penn State while on campus in April. He also visited and considered LSU before committing to the Nittany Lions in September. Overall, he earned 18 scholarship offers. Some other notable schools included Arizona State, Maryland, Miami, Nebraska, UCF and West Virginia.

QUOTABLE: “I’m trying to make a name for myself and be my own person, so I’m sticking to this [defensive back] for as long as I can,” Porter told the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. “People will always know me as Joey Porter’s son, and I’m cool with that because he did a lot of great things in the [NFL]. That’s a good spot.”
