Sibley visits childhood favorite

Ohio State was the school Akron (Ohio) Hoban 2017 running back Todd Sibley Jr. grew up watching on television. On Saturday he was able to see Ohio Stadium in-person.
"I really liked it down there because it is the home team and I have always been a fan of Ohio State since I was little," Sibley said. "When I got to go up there, go out the tunnel and see a few players in Ohio State uniforms that I played with and played against, it was just a really great experience."

Two current Ohio State players Sibley did catch up with were Akron natives Parris Campbell and Dante Booker.
"It was great to see them down there on the field," Sibley said. "It was just regular chit-chat and me giving them a hard time."
Sibley did not camp at Ohio State and being a sophomore has had little contact with the coaching staff previously, but hopes to see increased interest from the home state school as his recruitment progresses.
"I don't really know much about what they think of me," Sibley said. "I went to the spring game and I know they are interested in me, but I don't know how much they are interested in me. Hopefully that grows stronger as time goes along."
Sibley did not attend any college camps this summer, but a freshman season in which he rushed for 1,201 yards and 12 touchdowns has caught the attention of schools throughout the region.
"I think Michigan really, really likes me. From what I hear, Greg Mattison is really interested," Sibley said. "Purdue, I get a lot of mail from them and Cincinnati, I get a lot of mail from them too."
Purdue has invited Sibley out for a game this fall and he is planning to attend their Oct. 11 home match-up with Michigan State.
Akron Hoban is off to a 2-0 record in the 2014 season. The 5-foot-9, 203-pound Sibley rushed 20 times for 197 yards and two touchdown in the first game, but was held in check the second week and tallied just 40 rushing yards.
