Shugarts hits No. 17

Watching his new buddy Sam McGuffie of Cypress Fairbanks play against Pearland High School in the state quarterfinal game, J.B. Shugarts sits in the stands with his scholarship total at No. 17.
South Carolina offered Shugarts last week, in a letter from Steve Spurrier.

Shugart has a busy month planned. During his Christmas break, Shugarts will be visting Atlanta, Georgia, with Justin Johnson of Gilmer, Texas. The pair will be working out with Johnson's personnel trainer.
He will then be attending the U.S. Army All-American combine in San Antonio.
According to his father Bret, the 6-foot-7 talent will be narrowing his college choices down sometime soon.
Ohio State, Michigan, Texas A&M, Texas, Florida and Notre Dame seem certain to make the cut. Michigan and Florida coaches visited Klein's campus last week to check on the national offensive lineman recruit.
As for Shugarts' relationship with McGuffie?
"We email each other on the computer," Shugarts said. "I know he likes Michigan and the running backs coach there loves him. I think they will offer him soon."
